Farewell, CVS...

A quick stop at my neighborhood CVS for a watch battery revealed a simple truth; if you can’t do it right, you shouldn’t do it at all.

No more one-hour film processing at CVS. Digital 4x6s, yes. C-41, nooo.

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
What used to take an hour now takes 10 days. If you bring your film to CVS, they’ll have it processed for you all right. They’ll send it out to a Fuji lab, and you get it back in about 10 days. Now that’s progress. But at least the lab will do it right. Not like this poor fellow...

C50. Yeah, right.

So is this bad news? Not really. It just means less competition and more profit for the labs that are doing really good work. And in the long run, that’s better than gambling on your precious images any day.
