Bee on Echinacea

Bee on Echinacea
One year ago today, this was taken with the Nikon Coolpix P5100 fitted with Nikon FC-E8 0.21x Fisheye Converter Lens. I had just received this lens, and was experimenting with it in my partner’s garden.
I found this lens, originally designed for a previous generation of Coolpix camera, on Amazon. Since it had the same 28mm thread as the UR-E20 used to adapt the “official” WC-E67 and TC-E3ED converter lenses, I figured it would work. It did, perfectly. The nice thing about this lens is that it’s really quite sharp, and very versatile. It can produce a circular image, which works nicely with the square format available on this camera, or a full-frame image, depending on the zoom.

For this image, the camera was zoomed in so as to create a less-than-180°, full frame image.
