Bullseye! The First Brownie Bull’s-Eye Test

Finally, I’m getting around to testing my flea market find of last summer…

After attempting to re-spool 120 film onto a 620 spool (the trailing end of the film is not taped to the paper backing, making this process harder than it need be) I've decided to modify the plastic 120 spool instead. It was so easy to trim the diameter with a pair of nail clippers that it’s definitely not worth the trouble of dragging out the changing bag.

No need to sand down the ends, it fit in just fine, although protruding tabs on the spool arms interfere when closing the case. Bending them downwards solves this problem.

Using a 620 take-up spool, the film advance was flawless. Today I’m shooting with Kodak Portra 400 on a bright day with some shade. Film favors overexposure, so we’ll see how that goes. One the film is finished, I’m going to try re-using the modified 120 spool as a take-up spool, possible sanding down the ends a bit.
