Review: Kodak Ektar 100 Film

Kodak Professional Ektar 100 Film
This is one of my all-time favorite medium-speed films, and there’s a rich history surrounding it…

Originally released in 1989, this film was offered in 25, 125 and 1000 ISO formats. In 1991, the poor selling ISO 125 was replaced by 100. In 1994, the 35mm format was discontinued, and in 1997, the 120 format followed suit. These films were replaced by the Royal Gold line.

In September of 2008, a new film was released that once again bore the Ektar moniker: Kodak Professional Ektar 100. This film has even finer grain than the previous ISO 25 version. Although it has less exposure latitude than consumer films, overexposure results in rich color saturation, and its extremely fine grain and sharpness make it excellent for enlargements.

Today, this film is available in 135, 120 and 4x5 formats.
